He was presented with the award by Defence Minister Dr Ng Eng Hen at a ceremony at the Ministry of Defence this morning.

Gen (Rtd) Budiman was conferred the award for his contributions to the strong and longstanding defence relations between the Indonesia and Singapore armies.

"Both armies enjoy a wide range of interactions, such as the Professional Interaction Programme between the Singapore Army's 3rd Division and the Indonesian Army's Strategic Reserve Command, the Joint Army Training Working Group Meeting and the Army Executive Meeting," Mindef said.

The ministry added that the frequent exchanges have strengthened mutual understanding and camaraderie between both armies.
