Former New Zealand prime minister Clark to visit Singapore

SINGAPORE - The Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), The Right Honourable Helen Clark will arrive in Singapore tomorrow for a three-day visit.

Her visit is at the invitation of Minister for National Development Khaw Boon Wan and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Vivian Balakrishnan to speak at the opening plenary of the 2014 World Cities Summit.

The summit, themed "Liveable and Sustainable - Common Challenges, Shared Solutions", will look at the state of urban challenges today and identify principles of shared solutions applicable to cities spanning the range of development, socio-economic and political contexts.

While in Singapore, Ms Clark will meet Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Law K Shanmugam.

The former New Zealand prime minister will also deliver a public lecture on the topic of "Women, Excellence and the Public Service" at the UNDP Global Centre for Public Service Excellence.
