KAJANG - Four robbers took off with about RM700,000 (S$269,000) worth of jewellery after they held up a goldsmith shop in a shopping complex in Sungai Chua here.

The four men, wearing full-faced helmets, stormed into the shop armed with a pistol around 4pm on Friday.

According to Kajang deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Ghani Mohamad Ji, one of the robbers fired a shot at the counter's bullet-proof glass.

"Another robber used a hammer to break the display cases before they grabbed the trays of jewellery," he said at the scene.

No one, including the two staff working in the shop, was hurt in the robbery.

The entire incident only lasted about two minutes.
