Gerard Ee is new chairman of Charity Council

SINGAPORE - Mr Gerard Ee, the current chairman of Changi General Hospital, Eastern Health Alliance and SIM University Board of Trustees, has been appointed chairman of the Charity Council.

He will remain in the position for two years starting from Mar 1, 2015.

According to a statement released on Monday by the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Ee succeeds Mrs Fang Ai Lian, who has led the council for more than eight years.

Also, four new members have been appointed and nine re-appointed to form a 14-member council.

Mr Ee is the former chairman of the National Kidney Foundation and also previously served as the president of the National Council of Social Service, chairman of the Public Transport Council, Council for Third Age and the Singapore Institute of Management.

Some of the newly-appointed members in the Charity Council include Dr Tan Wee Liang, associate professor of strategic management, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, Singapore Management University and Mr David Wong, chairman, Methodist Welfare Services.

The re-appointed Charity Council members comprise of Mr R. Dhinakaran, managing director, Jay Gee Group of Companies, Dr Lan Luh Luh, associate professor, Business School and Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore and Ms Mildred Tan, chairman, National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre.
