Girl, 4, tortured & sexually abused

It was a startling discovery.

A 41-year-old man who was on his way home from work saw a four-year-old girl wandering alone on a Kuala Lumpur street. The time: 3.30am.

The man was shocked as the girl began crying and asked for food, Malay Mail reported.

A closer look revealed that the girl had injuries all over her body. She had apparently been tortured with pliers, spanners and screwdrivers. She had also been sexually assaulted, the report said.

The police believe that the parents could be the suspects.

A photograph of the girl, released by city police to seek public help to track down her parents, showed several nasty scars on her nose, forehead and lips.

There were also old scars all over her body, which a medical report suggested had been caused by abuse over at least six months.

A police source told Malay Mail that the initial medical report also showed injuries to her private parts.

City police chief Mohmad Salleh confirmed the case. He said they are looking for the parents of the girl, who is at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

The Malay Mail has learnt that the girl could have been living on the streets for a few days.

Wandering Aimlessly

A police source said the girl was found wandering aimlessly along Setapak, KL, on Oct 9 before she was rescued by the passer-by.

Police said the passer-by, who was not named, told them that the girl cried and asked for food when he approached her.

"The man told us she looked frightened, pale and weak, and kept crying and asking for food," the source was quoted as saying.

"He fed the girl before handing her over to the police.

"We believe she was not dumped on the streets by her parents, but instead ran away from home as she couldn't stand being abused."
