Goh Chok Tong to visit Hainan and Shandong

SINGAPORE - Emeritus Senior Minister (ESM) Goh Chok Tong will be in Hainan, China, from April 8 to 10 for the Bo'ao Forum for Asia (BFA) Annual Conference.

ESM, who is a member of the BFA Board of Directors, will attend BFA board meetings, and a luncheon hosted by Premier Li Keqiang. Mr Goh will also have meetings with foreign leaders and senior Chinese officials on the sidelines of the BFA Annual Conference.

He will then visit Jinan and Qingdao in Shandong Province from April 10 to 13. On this visit, ESM will seek to reaffirm Singapore's long-standing ties and cooperation with Shandong, which is the first Chinese province with which Singapore established a business council in 1993.

In Shandong, ESM will meet Shandong Party Secretary Jiang Yikang, Shandong Governor Guo Shuqing, Jinan Party Secretary Wang Min and Qingdao Party Secretary Li Qun. He will also meet Singaporean businessmen in Shandong, attend a briefing on the Sino-Singapore Jinan Smart City Project, and visit major Singaporean and Chinese companies in Qingdao.

The former Prime Minister of Singapore will be accompanied by Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Singapore Co-Chair of the Singapore-Shandong Business Council Teo Ser Luck for the visit to Shandong Province. Also on the trip are Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs and for Culture, Community and Youth Sam Tan, as well as officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Trade and Industry and International Enterprise Singapore.
