Police have arrested a 46-year-old man who allegedly fled with gold bars from a pawnshop in Bukit Merah Central.
The incident happened at about 2.15pm on Tuesday when the suspect entered the shop to buy gold bars.
Staff handed over three bars for viewing. While appearing to view the bars, he fled with them.
Clementi Police Division officers arrested the man early on Wednesday in the vicinity of Sims Avenue. They recovered two of the bars, valued at about $9,400, from him. They recovered the other bar, valued at about $6,200, from a pawnshop in South Bridge Road.
