SINGAPORE - Several government websites were down for an hour on Sunday morning.
This happened because power to a server tripped.
The Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) said on its Facebook page that the websites were not accessible between 9.30am and 10.30am.
Power was restored and all the affected websites were back online, the IDA said. Netizens who posted comments below the post questioned the lack of a proper back-up for the server.
One netizen asked why there wasn't a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) for the servers. Another questioned the existence of "designs with dependencies on a single server".
The IDA, in its post, apologised for the incident.
