Governor-General of New Zealand to visit Singapore

SINGAPORE - The Governor-General of New Zealand Sir Jerry Mateparae will make a state visit to Singapore from July 6 to 8 at the invitation of President Tony Tan Keng Yam, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Saturday.

During his trip, Governor-General Mataparae will be accompanied by his wife Lady Janine Mateparae and officials from the New Zealand Government House and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

He will have separate meetings with President Tan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, followed by a state banquet the same evening.

Governor-General Mateparae will also visit Treelodge@Punggol, HDB's first Eco-Precinct, and the KK Women's and Children's Hospital to view ongoing collaboration between Singapore and New Zealand at the Neurodevelopment Research Centre under A*STAR's Singapore Institute for Clinical Sciences.

Singapore and New Zealand are commemorating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
