Hankering for a taste of home

Over 6,000 Singaporeans and their family and friends gathered for Singapore Day 2013 at Sydney's Royal Botanical Gardens on Saturday.

At the event, which was themed "Heartland City", were 16 different stalls including 328 Katong Laksa, Geylang Lorong Hokkien Mee, Hill Street Fried Kway Teow and Adam Road Food Centre's Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak.

Other than serving up Singaporeans' favourite dishes, there were also homegrown talents - including Dick Lee and Hossan Leong - to Syndey to entertain the crowd.

Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ms Grace Fu, were also at the event to update the Singaporeans there on the changes and opportunities back home.
