Tampines had its first street light-up in Tampines Central 5 on June 14, as part of Hari Raya celebrations in the area.

The light-up coincided with the launch of a Hari Raya Bazaar at the field next to Tampines MRT station, as well as that of Project Ramadan Food Hamper 2015 - a community-led exercise to collect food donations for the needy.

Tampines GRC MPs Heng Swee Keat, Masagos Zulkifli, Irene Ng and Baey Yam Keng signed pledge forms to donate essential items.

Visitors to the bazaar on June 14 were entertained by Malay singers such as

M. Daud Kilau, Aisyah Aziz and Yuzaidania.

There were also booths set up by the embassies of Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey and Iran to showcase their cultural goods.

And to promote racial harmony and inter-ethnic understanding among residents, there were also standing displays with information about the traditions and customs of the four major races.
