SINGAPORE- While others shopped for groceries, he was looking for victims.
And he found all four of them at the Prime supermarket at Block 263, Compassvale Street.
Within the span of 10 minutes, construction worker Ramachandran Balamurugan had molested the four women by stroking their buttocks, thighs and private parts.
According to court documents, he molested the women, aged between 22 to 51, between 10.30am and 10.40am on Nov 17.
Yesterday, the Indian national was sentenced to a total of seven months' jail for two charges of outraging the modesty of two domestic helpers. Ramachandran had pleaded guilty to the charges.
Another two charges of outrage of modesty were taken into consideration for molesting two other women, also within the same time frame. His sentence is backdated to his remand on Nov 19 last year.
The court heard that Ramachandran had approached his first victim, a 37-year-old domestic helper who was squatting at the fruits section to select the fruits at the bottom rack.
He squatted on her left, then extended his hand and touched her on her left inner thigh. When she turned around to question him, Ramachandran merely responded: "No problem, no problem."
Next, he approached another domestic helper from behind. The woman, 33, had been selecting vegetables.
Ramachandran reached between her thighs with his hand and stroked her private parts.
Shocked, she turned around, only to see him standing behind her, smiling.
