He stabs mum to death
SUSPECT: Travis Montgomery.

He was scheduled to go for an anger management programme. But the night before, Travis Montgomery, 16, allegedly stabbed his mother to death.

He allegedly tried to kill his father too, but Mr Wade Montgomery, 49, survived the vicious attack.

The incident happened early this week in Alabama, in the US, Britain's Daily Mail reported.

The boy then fled the family's trailer. He was arrested within hours and has been charged as an adult, the police said. His mother, Renae, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The father was airlifted to the University of Alabama Hospital, Birmingham.

Reports said he may be paralysed. Marion County Sheriff Kevin Williams said deputies were called to the Montgomery family's trailer at about 4am on Monday morning after a neighbour heard the father calling for help.

Investigators who arrived on the scene found Mrs Montgomery stabbed to death in the hallway, Birmingham TV station WBRC reported. Her injured husband managed to crawl to the living room, where he was found. He was stabbed in the neck and back and suffered a partially collapsed lung, according to ABC.

The boy reportedly fought with his mother and even ran away from home a year and a half ago.

"He and his mother did not get along," Sheriff Williams told AL.com. "They had words back and forth for about a week." After the stabbings, the boy fled in his father's pickup. Investigators are still trying to determine the motive behind the stabbing.

The teen always uploaded photos of himself and friends. Among the photos on his Facebook page were those of family members holding a baby, sandwiched with images of him holding a knife and others of what appears to be blood on his fingers. They were posted before the murder, the New York Daily News reported.
