Hello Kitty to feature in SG50 celebrations

Hello Kitty fever is set to descend upon Singapore again, in time for the nation's 50th birthday.

Singapore Post is launching a set of Hello Kitty plush toys and stamps designed for Singapore's 50th anniversary celebrations.

The SG50 soft toys come in five outfits: three Hello Kitty figurines dressed in the traditional cheongsam, baju kurung and sari; one sporting an SG50 outfit with a red and white T-shirt that reads "I love Singapore"; and the last one in a khaki colonial postman's uniform and holding a tiny letter.

All the toys come with Vanda Miss Joaquim ribbons, which are adorned with the national flower.

The set of five will be sold at $88, and will be available at 10 post offices from April 9. The post offices are Ang Mo Kio, Jurong Point, Killiney Road, Newton, Orchard, Robinson Road, Singapore Post Centre, Suntec, Toa Payoh Central and Woodlands Central.

Collectors can also pre-order from www.sg50hellokitty.com from 10am next Monday.

SingPost has also created SG50 Hello Kitty MyStamp folders that feature Hello Kitty with Singapore landmarks.

These will be available from today at the River Hongbao and on www.sg50hellokitty.com. They will also be sold at all post offices from March 4.
