Indian bank gives $100,000 to Sinda

The Singapore Indian Development Association (Sinda) on Thursday received a $100,000 donation from ICICI Bank, India's largest private bank.

The cheque was presented to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who is also Sinda chairman.

The bank's managing director and CEO Chanda Kochhar said: "The ICICI Group believes in making a positive contribution to society... We see ourselves as an integral part of the Singapore community, having operated here for 10 years.

This contribution is a reaffirmation of our strong commitment to Singapore."
