Indian high commission to reach out to workers

The Indian high commission in Singapore has made known its willingness to better educate Indian workers in any way possible, together with the help of the Singapore Government.

The Indian high commissioner to Singapore Vijay Thakur Singh told The Business Times that she was willing to work with partners like the Ministry of Manpower and the employers in helping workers better assimilate Singapore culture.

The high commission already has initiatives that engages the workers but it is willing to double its efforts.

Meanwhile, it is also going to reach out to workers in an effort to understand and look into their concerns. There are proposed visits to workers' dormitories and also the establishment of a mobile helpline.

The high commission will also be providing legal aid and other necessary support to the workers accused of rioting.
