Indian schools asked to make time to wash hands

Mumbai's ministry of human resources and development has asked schools to make time for schoolchildren and teachers to wash their hands with soap.

These guidelines, issued on Feb 13 to schools covered under the midday meal scheme, states that washing hands before and after meals should be promoted and supervised diligently.

The guidelines were part of directives with regards to food safety and hygiene, although guidelines for cooking areas and kitchens are not applicable for schools which are supplied meals by external agencies.
