Indonesian maritime official in Singapore to discuss maritime issues

SINGAPORE - A senior maritime official from Indonesia, Captain Bobby R. Mamahit, was in Singapore for the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore’s (MPA) Distinguished Visitors Programme.

Captain Bobby R. Mamahit is the Director General of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DGST), Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.

During his 2-day visit, Captain Bobby R. Mamahit called on Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Minister for Transport and met with MPA’s Chief Executive, Mr Lam Yi Young and MPA senior management.

The leaders discussed maritime issues such as port development, the Tripartite Technical Experts Group and the Co-operative Mechanism on Safety of Navigation and Environmental Protection in the Straits of Malacca and Singapore.

He also visited MPA's Port Operations Control Centre at PSA-Vista, the Integrated Simulation Centre at the Singapore Maritime Academy, and toured the PSA terminal and facilities.

In conjunction with this visit, Captain Bobby R. Mamahit and Mr Lam signed an agreement to extend the DGST-MPA Training Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a further two-year term.

DGST and MPA have engaged in maritime training under the MOU since 2001.
