Iswaran to visit Cambodia to strengthen business ties

SINGAPORE - Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry S. Iswaran will be making an official visit to Cambodia on July 21.

During the trip aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties, Mr Iswaran will meet Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sar Kheng, Senior Minister of Commerce Sun Chanthol and Minister of Mines and Energy Suy Sem.

He will also participate in a business networking session co-organised by International Enterprise Singapore and the Singapore Business Federation, which are leading an 18-member delegation to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

Mr Iswaran will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Enterprise Singapore.

Bilateral trade between Singapore and Cambodia rose 17 per cent since 2010 to reach $1.6 billion in 2013, the Ministry of Trade and Industry said in a statement.

In 2012, Singapore was Cambodia's sixth largest trading partner. Its investments into Cambodia also increased 11 per cent year-on-year to reach a cumulative value of $240 million that year.

Local companies have invested in a range of sectors in Cambodia including property development, hospitality, energy, lifestyle business, garment, agriculture and logistics.
