ITE to start Nitec courses for O-level grads in January

SINGAPORE - The Institute of Technical Education (ITE) is bringing forward the start of its Nitec courses for O-level graduates from April to January.

The change, announced on Wednesday, will kick in next month.

ITE said this will mean that O-level and N-level graduates will be able to begin their Nitec courses at the same time.

Enrolment into ITE's Higher Nitec courses will continue to take place in April.

ITE will also introduce a new Nitec course in electronics (display technology) next month, taking in its first batch of 40 students.

Three of its year-long service skills Nitec courses in office, retail and tourism will be replaced by four two-year Nitec courses in business services, finance services, retail services, and travel and tourism services.

ITE said this change was to better prepare students for the job market and to boost their career advancement opportunities.

N-level results will be released on Thursday, and students can apply for ITE's full-time courses on receiving their results.

Application to its traineeship courses for N-level holders will begin tomorrow at 9am, and will end at 5pm on Dec 23.

O-level holders can apply for entry to ITE following the release of their exam results next month.
