A former zookeeper who coerced his friend's 12-year-old daughter into posing naked for a photograph was jailed for seven months yesterday.
The 39-year-old man, who cannot be named because of a gag order, was known as "uncle" to the girl, who would often ask him for small amounts of money.
On April 25, 2012, the youngster asked him for $300 so that she could buy a phone.
That evening, the youngster and a 17-year-old friend went to visit his home, where she again asked him for the money.
He told them they could make money by becoming hostesses, before asking the youngster to strip.
Initially, she was reluctant but gave in after much persuasion and he took a photo of her on the bed.
Police were alerted the next day and the man was charged last year.
He admitted committing an indecent act with a child and could have been fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to five years under the Children and Young Persons Act.
