Jewellery shop loses thousands in three minutes

PASIR GUDANG - Robbers took a mere three minutes to relieve a jewellery shop here of thousands of ringgit worth of gold necklaces and bracelets.

The shop owner, who only wanted to be known as Chow, said his six workers were opening the shop at a hypermarket in Masai around 10.30am when four men wearing helmets and black jackets entered the shop.

"Two men were armed with a parang and an axe while another two were holding hammers."

"They warned my workers that they would be hurt and all of them went inside the office area fearing for their lives," he said.

He added that the robbers then smashed the display glass and quickly took away five trays of gold necklaces and bracelets.

Seri Alam OCPD Supt Abdul Samad Salleh said police were examining CCTV footage.

"The suspects wore full-face helmets with dark visors to cover their faces. However, we recovered two hammers at the scene used by the robbers to commit the crime."

"We are checking the hammers for prints," he said, adding that it only took the robbers about three minutes to take the valuable items from the shop before fleeing on two motorcycles parked at the hypermarket entrance.
