Jobless man jailed for robbery in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - A jobless man was jailed a total of 20 years for four counts of committing gang robbery three months ago.

Sessions judge Azwarnida Affandi jailed Wong Wei Loong, 36, five years for each charge after he pleaded guilty yesterday.

Azwarnida also ordered Wong to be whipped once for each charge. The judge, however, ordered the sentences to run concurrently from the day he was arrested on Aug 2.

Wong committed the offences with four others still at large.

Wong was charged with robbing salesmen Seh Kai Loon, 21, Hock Mei Teng, 21, Tan Lian Ching, 19, and Sin Sheck Lee, 22, using a parang and a knife.

DPP Nor Aizam Aiza Zamran prosecuted while Wong was unrepresented.
