Joint anti-crime enforcement blitz nets 130

A joint anti-crime operation by the police, the Central Narcotics Bureau and the Singapore Civil Defence Force has resulted in 130 suspects being arrested.

The police said that 48 men and 82 women between the ages of 18 and 73 were arrested in the overnight blitz on Saturday.

Of the 130 people arrested, 76 were nabbed for offences related to illegal employment. The rest were arrested for gambling, unlawful assembly, drink driving and other offences, the police said in a statement today.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Traffic Police were among those who took part in the operation.

The police said that three illegal gambling dens were smashed in the operation. Four entertainment outlets were also found to have likely breached their "Public Entertainment Licensing conditions".
