Jurong West thief arrested with aid from CCTV footage

SINGAPORE - Big brother is watching, and it was CCTV footage that led to the arrest of a 54-year-old man for his suspected involvement in several Theft in Dwelling cases on Thursday.

The police said in a statement that it received several reports of theft from shops located at a Shopping Centre located along Jurong West Central 2 between Dec 9 and 10.

Officers from the Nanyang Neighbourhood Police Centre managed to establish the identity of the suspect with the aid of CCTV footage. The suspect was subsequently arrested in the vicinity of Jurong West Central 2 on Dec 11 at about 2pm.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Dec 12 for an offence of Theft in Dwelling punishable under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.

If convicted, he is liable for imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable to a fine.
