Killer litter at Jurong West
It was a mess at the foot of a Housing Board flat on Tuesday morning after an elderly man living on the 11th floor allegedly started dumping things out of his window. There were unzipped bags and pieces of clothing strewn across the floor, together with plastic bags and broken plastic containers.

She heard a series of heavy thuds while preparing breakfast for her children on Tuesday morning.

The housewife, who wanted to be known as Madam Lai, was alarmed. But she ignored the noises as she was busy tending to the stove.

What she didn't realise was that someone was throwing killer litter from the 11th storey.

It was her husband who later alerted her to the mess at the foot of Block 528 at Jurong West Street 52.

Big, unzipped bags containing clothes were strewn on the ground. Other assorted items like plastic bags, broken plastic containers and even a pillow were also lying around.

"The commotion must have lasted 15 minutes," said Madam Lai, 39.

She added that she was glad no one was hurt.

"It happened at about 7am, which is when people are going to work and kids to school. They could have been hit by the litter," she added.

Shin Min Daily News reported that the walls at the void deck were also splattered with a red substance.

Another resident, who wanted to be known only as Anna, said she caught a glimpse of the culprit in action on Tuesday morning. She identified him as an elderly man who lives on the 11th storey.

When TNP visited the flat yesterday evening, no one was at home.

A police spokesman confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at 7am on Tuesday. The case has been classified as a rash act, and investigations are ongoing.
