Kiwi tourist slashed by M'sian taxi driver in hotel room

KUALA LUMPUR - A tourist from New Zealand was reportedly slashed by a taxi driver following a heated argument over a woman in a hotel room at Jalan Changkat, Bukit Bintang on Friday.

The taxi driver, 41, is alleged to have slashed the 47-year-old tourist, a beekeeper from New Zealand, on his face and neck in the 12.30am incident.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad confirmed that the victim managed to escape the room and seek help.

It is learnt that the tourist, who was a regular customer of the taxi driver, had checked into the room with the woman and the driver on Wednesday.

Both the taxi driver and the woman, believed to be a prostitute, were arrested on Friday.

The tourist, who was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital, is reported to be in stable condition.
