SUNGAI PETANI - A labourer was charged in the magistrate's court on Monday with allegedly causing the death of his six-year-old daughter.
A. Dhivianathan, 33, was charged for committing the offence on Feb 24 between 1am to 12.20pm at a house in Taman Sutra here under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Magistrate Mohd Izham Ali set April 12 for mention pending post-mortem report.
It was reported that Dhivianathan and his wife brought their daughter Dhiviasini to Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital here who was unconscious.
They claimed that the child became unconscious after she fell off a chair or bed after being pulled by her sibling, aged two.
However, inspection by the hospital found the girl's head was swollen and there were bruises on her body, which raised the police suspicion.
