Lawyer knocked out by fall 'was bleeding from the head'

Dramatic things can happen in court.

But Mr Hasran Solehin, 39, did not think it would involve him. After all, he was in court yesterday just to pay a parking summons.

But as he got to the steps outside the State Courts, he saw a man trip and fall on the concrete staircase, landing face first on the ground.

The man was knocked unconscious.

Mr Hasran, an online investor, told The New Paper: "I was the first person to attend to him and I didn't know what to think except to be afraid for him.

"I turned him around and he was bleeding from the head, his left eye was very swollen. I tried to give him whatever first aid I could."

RUSHED OVER

That's when five lawyers rushed over and one of them exclaimed that he knew the victim and identified him as Mr Venogopal Ragavan, a lawyer with S. K. Kumar Law Practice LLP.

Mr Ragavan had left the State Courts at around 9.35am and had been pulling a trolley bag behind him before he fell, said Mr Solehin.

He continued to tend to Mr Ragavan's injuries and wipe blood from his face until the ambulance arrived.

An ambulance took the unconscious man to Singapore General Hospital.

TNP understands that even hours after the incident, Mr Ragavan was still in a daze. He also had to be examined by an eye specialist for his injuries.

Mr Ragavan was in court yesterday for the case of CityCab Pte Ltd & Anor v Rajaa Best Curry Pte Ltd.

Mr Solehin said: "I just came to pay my summons. I didn't know that I would end up helping someone."
