At least 3 people injured in pre-dawn accident on Bencoolen Street

SINGAPORE - At least three people were injured and sent to the hospital following an accident involving two cars on Bencoolen Street this morning.

One woman passenger from one of the vehicles, a Mini Cooper, sustained multiple injuries and was sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

The Straits Times understands that there was another woman in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but it was not immediately clear what happened to her.

A SCDF spokesman said that they were alerted to an accident at 4.15am.

The SCDF said the driver of the other vehicle, a Toyota, was also sent to TTSH.

Police said a pedestrian was also hurt in the accident and was sent to TTSH

An eye-witness told The Straits Times he saw the Mini Cooper driving at a high speed towards a Toyota Vios, which was parked outside a prata shop on Bencoolen Street.

Real estate agent Aaron Wan, 27, was on his way home when he witnessed the accident.

"The impact was so great that the Mini Cooper flipped onto its back, and the tyres and suspension of the Toyota were dislodged and flung onto the road," said Mr Wan. "Diners at the prata shop were in shock."

Police investigations are ongoing.
