Lee Kuan Yew's family expresses thanks in newspaper ads

SINGAPORE - The family of the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew has put out full-page advertisements in Singapore's major newspapers to thank the nation for the affection shown in the days after his passing.

In the advertisements, which ran on Thursday morning, the Lee family said it was deeply moved by the respect shown for Mr Lee and the kindness shared with them during the period of mourning.

Mr Lee died on March 23, exactly one month ago.

This is the message which accompanied a photograph of Mr Lee in newspapers today:

Thank you for being with us,
as we mourned the passing of
our papa & yeye.
You touched us deeply
with your affection and respect for him,
and with your heartwarming kindness
as you shared our grief.
We are immensely grateful
to his medical & security teams,
as well as his office & home staff;
You served and cared for him,
with dedication and love for so many years.
We thank you all.
