Lianhe Zaobao launches new political website Z-Politics

SINGAPORE - Lianhe Zaobao, the Chinese flagship newspaper of Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), will be launching its newest website, Z-Politics（早报政谈）, which is dedicated to the coverage of local political news.

Online readers will be able to access the free Chinese language site on zpolitics.zaobao.com.sg when it goes "live" on Thursday, 20 August.

Readers can look forward to news updates about the upcoming General Election on Z-Politics. Drawing on the reporting strengths and expertise of the Zaobao editorial team, the site offers exclusive and informative political content tailored to the needs and consumption habits of online users.

Featured content from other SPH publications under the Chinese Media Group, including Chinese evening dailies Lianhe Wanbao and Shin Min Daily News, can also be found on this site.

Through Z-Politics, readers will be updated with the latest political news and features. There will also be insightful reports, specially produced video content and meticulously designed interactive elements, keeping readers in the loop of the latest developments in the local political scene.

Following the announcement of the new electoral boundaries, Z-Politics will offer an interactive map for users to check the constituency which they belong to by simply keying in their postal code. Basic information about their constituency is also available. In addition, there will be video content, including a four-minute programme segment called "Hot Seat"（政好到你), featuring first-term Members of Parliament, new faces in the upcoming election, as well as opposition representatives, who will take turns to be in the hot seat answering questions from reporters.

Mr Goh Sin Teck, Editor of Lianhe Zaobao, said: "When we were designing this website, we had two objectives in mind. We hoped to enhance the quality of our political news reporting and commentaries, and at the same time, present these content in more engaging formats. It is timely that the completion of the political site coincides with the the election season, echoing the Chinese proverb 'Everything is ready and even the east wind is blowing'."

Z-Politics is a mobile responsive site, providing optimal user experience across all types of mobile devices. A special web app has also been created and users can download through web browsers and access the app on any iOS or Android mobile devices.

- Launch Safari, connect to zpolitics.zaobao.com.sg
- Click the "Share" icon at the bottom of the screen and select "Add to Home Screen"
- Return to home screen and click on the "Z-Politics" icon

For Android users:
- Launch browser in mobile devices and connect to zpolitics.zaobao.com.sg
- Click on the "Menu" icon at the end of the address bar, and select "Add to Home Screen"
- Return to home screen and click on the "Z-Politics" icon
