SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for involvement in loansharking activities.

He was arrested at Compassvale Road on Aug 31 at about 10.15pm. He was believed to be distributing flyers for loansharks.

Further investigations revealed that he had also committed loanshark harassment at a unit in Sembawang Estate by splashing paint and scrawling loanshark-related graffiti on the walls of the HDB blocks.

He will be charged in Court for loanshark harassment under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to five years and mandatory caning of up to six strokes.
