MALACCA: Malacca police successfully eliminated a major drug-processing lab in Jasin following a tip-off from members of the public.
State deputy chief police Senior Asst Comm Mohd Shahrizan Che Mat Din said a total of 38.9kg of drugs believed to be syabu worth RM5.2mil (S$1.96 million) was seized at the site.
He said police also seized some chemical substances, which includes hydrochloric acid, acetone, ethanol and various gadgets utilised to process the drugs.
He said police also arrested two locals and one Indian national during the operation on Monday at a house in Kampung Bukit Tinggi, Jasin in Malacca.
"Apart from drugs, we also confiscated two cars worth RM90,000 from the suspects," he said in a press conference at the police headquarters here Tuesday.
He added that police also discovered RM720 cash and several mobile phones at the house.
SAC Mohd Shahrizan said police believed the drugs were meant for distribution in the local market.
He said the suspects aged between 29 and 40 were being investigated under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Acts 1952.
