Malaysia and Singapore discuss efforts to deal with terror threats

SINGAPORE - Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met with Malaysian Defence Minister Hishammuddin Hussein today on the sidelines of the 14th Shangri-La Dialogue to discuss joint efforts to deal with terrorism.

A press statement by Mindef said that both ministers reaffirmed the close and long-standing defence relations between Singapore and Malaysia, and their strong commitment to the Five Power Defence Arrangements (FPDA).

They discussed the need to co-operate and step up efforts to deal with the threat posed by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Dr Ng also held meetings with ministers and senior officials from Spain, Thailand, Timor-Leste, the United Kingdom and the United States, and hosted a breakfast for ministers from the FPDA countries this morning.
