Malaysian police hunting for foreigners who swiped RM1.2mil diamond ring

KUALA LUMPUR - Police are on the hunt for two men, believed to be foreigners, who allegedly swiped a diamond ring worth RM1.2mil from a jewellery shop in a shopping complex in Bukit Bintang here.

Dang Wangi OCPD Senior Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said the incident occurred at about 11.30am Thursday when two men entered the outlet to buy a ring.

An employee of the outlet took out a tray with 19 rings at the two men's request.

SAC Zainuddin said that after looking at the rings for about five minutes, the two foreigners told the employee that they would return in the afternoon.

The employee realised the ring was missing when he counted the number of rings on the tray several times after the men left.

SAC Zainuddin said according to the employee, CCTV footage showed one of the men taking the ring.
