Man arrested for aggravated outrage of modesty

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 41-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of aggravated outrage of modesty.

On 9 April 2014, a case of aggravated outrage of modesty was reported along Tampines Ave 1 where an unknown male had molested a 38-year-old female.

Upon receiving the report, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted intensive ground enquiries. Their efforts paid off when they managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 15 April 2014 at about 12.15pm in the vicinity of Ubi Ave 3.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 17 April 2014 for the offence of Aggravated Outrage of Modesty under Section 354A(1) of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than 2 years and not more than 10 years and with caning.

Commander of Bedok Police Division, DAC Alvin Moh commended his officers for their perseverance and good investigative follow-up which led to the arrest of the suspect.
