Man arrested for outrage of modesty on train

SINGAPORE - A 37-year-old man has been arrested for suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty committed on board the MRT, police said in a press statement on Friday (Jan 8).

A woman filed a police report after she discovered a social media posting about a male suspect allegedly touching a female passenger on board a train from Sembawang MRT station to Bishan MRT station. The woman who called the police stated that she was previously molested by the same suspect.

The suspect was arrested on Jan 7 and he will be charged in court on Jan 9 for the offence of Outrage of Modesty. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to two years, or fined and also be liable to caning.
