SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for his suspected involvement in case of Theft in Dwelling.
At about 9.13pm yesterday, Police received a call from an employee of a jewellery shop located in a shopping mall in the vicinity of Woodlands Square.
She reported that a man had fled with five gold bars.
The suspect had entered the store on the pretext of purchasing some gold items for investment and was served by one of the female staff.
After viewing the items that were offered to him, the suspect handed over a debit card to the staff, and suddenly dashed off with the gold bars.
Police officers were able to get hold of an image of the suspect. His identity was quickly determined and he was arrested on today at about 11.15am.
The suspect will be charged in Court on December 16 for the offence of Theft in Dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224.
If found guilty, he can be jailed up to seven years and fined.
The Police warned that such brazen criminal acts will not be tolerated, and that they will spare no efforts to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
