Man arrested for vandalism in Teck Whye

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a 65-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of vandalism, for scribbling on the walls of several blocks of flats in the Teck Whye public housing estate.

On Aug 12 at about 6.42 am, police officers discovered that walls and pillars at the void deck of several blocks were defaced with marker ink.

Following the report, officers from the Jurong Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and retrieved CCTV footages in the vicinity.

They established the identity of the suspect and arrested him later that day at around 6.38 pm along Teck Whye Lane.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect had committed at least 19 similar cases on the same day by defacing the walls and pillars of various HDB blocks within the vicinity of Teck Whye area.

Investigation is still ongoing.
