KLUANG - A man who allegedly stabbed his ex-fiancee to death following her refusal to reconcile with him has been charged with murder.

Muhammad Irshaduddin Khalis Nasurudin, 23, is accused of committing the offence at the motorcycle parking lot of the Econsave supermarket along Jalan Mersing here at 5.45pm on April 10.

He was charged with the murder of Nursyafikah Ahmad Ismail, 20, with a knife.

The charge under Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death sentence if found guilty.

The accused nodded in acknowledgement when the charge was read out to him by a court interpreter.

Magistrate Nuruhuda Yusof set May 26 for next mention of the case. No plea was recorded.

DPP Norafiah Saini prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented.

It was earlier reported that Nursyafikah, who worked as a supermarket clerk, was stabbed outside her workplace here.

The accused is said to have slammed her head onto a motorcycle before stabbing her with a kitchen knife.

She had earlier refused to reconcile with him as she was already engaged to another man.

Muhammad Irshaduddin was nabbed at Bandar Penawar in Kota Tinggi, where he was said to be attempting to flee to a neighbouring country, on April 14.
