Man claims trial to rape of seven-year-old niece

SHAH ALAM - An unemployed man claimed trial in a Sessions Court here to raping his seven-year-old niece.

The 38-year-old man on Monday also pleaded not guilty to committing unnatural sex on the same girl two years later.

He was accused of raping the girl at her grandmother's house in Sungai Buloh at about 1pm in December 2012.

He was alleged to have committed carnal intercourse against the order of nature on the girl in December last year.

If found guilty, he can be jailed up to 20 years and whipped for each offence under the Penal Code.

The girl's mother had lodged a complaint aginst him on May 13.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Syakimah Ibrahim has asked the court to deny his bail saying that the victim was staying with the accused and her grandmother.

DPP Siti Syakimah asked the court to consider the seriousness of the offence and that the prosecution was concerned that the accused would disturb her.

Sessions Court judge Slamat Yahya denied bail and set June 17 for mention.
