A witness told reporters that on the day of the incident, two groups of men were arguing at a 24-hour coffee shop at Lorong 24A Geylang.

The victim then approached the two groups and reportedly tried to mediate the situation.

It is unknown how he ended up as a target instead.

It is believed that the victim was assaulted multiple times.

The first assault was captured by the CCTV camera of a nearby shop.

In the footage, the victim was seen running past a man in an orange shirt, when the latter suddenly grabbed him, threw him to the ground, and punched him before leaving.

Another man in a white shirt then arrived, punched the victim thrice and left.

The victim was subsequently brought to his feet by another man, who tidied his shirt.

By then, the victim appeared to have sustained light injuries.

Instead of walking away, he turned back and headed in the direction of his assailants.

Police investigations are on-going.
