Man injured climbing into MBS fountain

Stunned visitors looked on on Monday as a man climbed into the giant bowl containing a fountain at Marina Bay Sands - before suffering a nasty head injury.

The young man climbed into the Rain Oculus, a see-through bowl perched above the central retail atrium at The Shoppes, at around 1am. Photos of the stunt were posted on citizen journalism website Stomp and showed another man helping him out.

Both men disappeared before security arrived but blood stains were left in the bowl from the man's head injury. The bowl has a hole through which water flows down into the atrium. A spokesman for Marina Bay Sands said it was "aware that two unidentified male visitors breached safety rules, resulting in an unauthorised access to the Rain Oculus".

She added: "While we continue to patrol the area, we urge guests to act sensibly and observe common safety rules."
