Man jailed 30 months for sex with girl, 13

One day before his wedding, a man accepted a teenager as his girlfriend, a court was told.

Months later, he went on to have sex with the then-13-year-old several times.

On Wednesday, Muhammad Zhafir Ahmad, 27, was jailed 30 months by District Judge Lee Poh Choo.

"You have no conscience,'' The Straits Times quoted the judge as telling Zhafir.

The offences came to light last September when the victim's mother found pictures on her daughter's mobile phone, showing the girl and Zhafir kissing.

Zhafir, who faced 17 charges, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexually abusing the girl at her home and in his car between April and August last year.

The other charges were taken into consideration.

The court heard that Zhafir and his then-fiancee, whom he later married, knew the victim's mother.

In September 2011, he invited the victim and her siblings to watch a movie, but only the victim went.

After this, they contacted each other regularly over the phone and through text messages. The victim told Zhafir that she saw him as a boyfriend.

Between April and August last year, they had sex once at her home and twice in his car, at carparks in Jurong West and Dover Crescent.

Zhafir could have been jailed up to 10 years and fined on each count.
