SINGAPORE- A real estate agent began sexually exploiting his 11-year-old stepdaughter about six months after he married her mother in early 2008.
The man started groping her under her clothes at night while the family was living in Johor.
Over the next three years, he moved on to other forms of sexual abuse and dictated sleeping arrangements to keep her close.
In 2011, when she was 14, he barged into the toilet while she was bathing, dragged her out and raped her.
Yesterday, the man, 37, pleaded guilty to seven charges - two each for rape, outrage of modesty and causing hurt and one for sexual assault of a minor - related to the girl, now 16.
Another 11 charges, which include four charges of causing hurt to the girl's younger sister, will be taken into consideration when he is sentenced on Jan 2.
The man had physically assaulted the younger girl, now 14, though not sexually.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Prem Raj Prabakaran sought a sentence of at least 30 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane.
The High Court heard that the girl's mother met the man in 2007 when he joined the real estate agency where she worked as an administrative assistant.
