A 25-year-old man has sought forgiveness from seven female friends after they found he had been secretly filming them as they bathed, major Chinese dailies reported.
The man from Sibu, Sarawak, pleaded with the victims, who were his college mates, to give him a chance and not lodge a police report during a meeting on Jan 10, China Press reported.
The meeting was held at MCA’s Public Services and Complaints Department office in Kuala Lumpur. The man had called up the department’s head Datuk Seri Michael Chong to express his intention to apologise to the victims personally.
He came to the meeting alone while four victims were accompanied by their parents.
He wrote an apology letter and claimed he could not control himself from doing so and would seek help from specialists.
Chong said the man claimed he began filming his friends eight months ago.
Newspapers had previously reported that the man’s activity came to light when one of the women found a pen-shaped spy camera while bathing in his house in Sibu during a group holiday on Dec 28.
Chong said that it was up to the victims to lodge a police report against the man but so far none had taken any action.
