GELANG PATAH - A drinking session for five friends turned gory turn when one of them was slashed to death by three masked parang-wielding men.

The group of five were leaving a pub in Nusajaya here at around 2am Sunday when they were attacked.

Nusajaya OCPD Supt Noor Hashim Mohamed said the deceased, Liew Poh Heng, 22, and another friend were about to leave on a motorcycle when a silver Proton Waja appeared and hit the machine.

"After the duo fell off the motorcycle, three masked men got out of the car and attacked Liew with their parangs," he said in a statement Sunday.

He added that the victim was slashed on his head, left arm and legs while his 21-year-old friend, who works as a factory operator in Singapore, escaped unhurt.

He said that Liew was pronounced dead at Hospital Sultanah Aminah. He worked as a labourer in Singapore.

"The masked men fled the scene after the attack, leaving the Waja behind, which we later discovered to be stolen from Taman Nusajaya Emas just before the incident," he said.

Supt Noor Hashim added that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder and police were trying to determine the motive behind the attack.
