Man steals safe from office containing $30,000 worth of cash

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of breaking into an office and stealing a safe, that contained about $30,000 in cash. 

On Nov 7 at about 9 am, a burglary was reported at an office along Foch Road.

With the aid of CCTV recordings from the office, officers from Central Police Division conducted extensive enquires and arrested a 24-year-old man along Tanglin Road on Nov 8 at about 4 am.

The suspect led the officers to a carpark along Sungei Road whereby a broken safe was seized. Cash amounting to over $6,000 was also seized from the suspect.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Nov 9. If found guilty, he could be jailed for up to 14 years. The police also said in a statement to the media that a court order will be sought to remand the suspect for further investigation.
