Man with stolen luxury cars nabbed

IPOH - Police have arrested a 41-year-old man and seized three luxury cars worth about RM1mil during Ops Lejang at Pengkalan Indah here.

Perak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Mohd Dzuraidi Ibrahim said the police, acting on a tip-off, stormed the home of the suspect at about 10am on Wednesday.

"We seized a white BMW325i and a black Toyota Land Cruiser during the raid.

"Both cars have fake car registration plates, and are believed to have been stolen in the Klang Valley," he said.

"The suspect has seven previous convictions for drug-related cases and car thefts, and was investigated under the Prevention of Crime Act," added SAC Mohd Dzuraidi.

He said further investigations showed that the man had also kept another car near Jalan S.P. Seenivasagam here.

"The black Lexus, also with a fake registration plate, is believed to have been stolen in Pasir Puteh.

"Police believe that the suspect was only a middleman who had kept the stolen cars.

"We believe that the vehicles will be handed over to a third party to be smuggled into a neighbouring country," he added.
